Brian Fleetwood - Artist Talk

Brian Fleetwood

Brian Fleetwood is an interdisciplinary jewelry artist currently based in northern New Mexico. Brian uses material and technical experimentation to create three-dimensional organic forms. Drawing from traditional stories that emphasize the intimate connection between all living things, past experience working in biology, and a personal interest in the connection between mind and body, Brian uses his work to explore parallels between the way ideas and living organisms grow, spread, and evolve. Brian holds an MFA in Craft and Material Studies from Virginia Commonwealth University and is currently assistant professor in Studio Art at the Institute of American Indian Arts.

Brian Fleetwood - Artist Workshop

Brian Fleetwood

Workshop participants received a selection of kits from Fleetwood’s Symbiosis Project, funded through a Windgate Foundation Grant through the Center for Craft. During the workshop, attendees completed at least one of the customizable kits, creating a one of a kind pin. No jewelry or other making experience was necessary. All materials were provided, but attendees were welcome to bring any materials (paints, pigments, paper, cloth, small found objects, etc.) to customize their own kits.

Prairie Art Center, 1001 S. Duck St. Friday, November 15, 2019 10 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
